Repointing & Tuckpointing
Keeping the brick structures leak free and a good heat insulator for your home is always crucial. The term repointing comes from the past when mortar mix was mixed to a damp moisture and pressed with force into the old brick joints to create a new mortar joint between the brick to preserve the structure.
Today the term remained the same but the process has changed since then. A new way of repointing ( and the best) is to cut back the old mortar joints. Mix the type "N" mortar to a cream consistency and bag squeeze the old joints with a min of 1" to 1 1/2" then pressed with a tool and brushed with a soft brush. Most people make the mistake and wait too long to have it inspected and repaired on time until its too late and the structure starts leaning. The joints deteriorate so bad that it starts to fall apart or there is a leak inside. At that point a reset of the structure is the only way to save it and resetting the brick comes at a more expensive price, cleaning the old brick to be reset and the risk of not enough bricks to reconstruct it back especially with discontinued brick designs. Here at Pro Modern Masonry we offer and affordable price for repointing. A complete set of any chimneys, walls and most brick laid structures are: new flashing, repoint, new cap, clean and seal at the best price than our competitors, not only in quality and attention to details but also with a 5 year workmanship warranty*. So give us a call today and don't wait until is too late to both save you money and your structure, you will be glad you did. |
